We are able to celebrate our youth at these awards only because of the generous sponsorship from those companies and organizations such as yours who also believe that our youth are the leaders of today and tomorrow.
Youth Recognition Submissions
During the global pandemic, all live in person events are paused until further notice. Once we are safe to gather again, an awards gala and event will be planned. In the meantime, we are taking things a little different virtually this year.
June 21st begins summer solstice and National Indigenous Peoples Day. To celebrate, we will be honouring Indigenous Youth throughout the week on social media. Submissions will be accepted between April 1, 2021 and May 15, 2021 or until the maximum of 200 submissions have been received. The submissions will be accepted online only and must include the following:
- Be of Indigenous ancestry of the Northwestern Ontario Region.*
- Must be between the age of 12-30
- Consent to the nomination. (Parent or Guardian consent required if under 16)
The Canadian Constitution recognizes three groups of Indigenous people – Indians (Status and Non-Status), Métis people and Inuit.
Northwestern Ontario Region
Any Indigenous person born within the Northwestern Ontario or currently resides in the region. Northwestern Ontario is the region within the Canadian province of Ontario which lies north and west of Lake Superior, and west of Hudson Bay and James Bay
Submissions will close May 15th.
This will allow us time to create each youth recognition post for social media and order the right number of items.
The social media recognitionpost will include the name and photo of the youth.
All youth recognized this week will receive a certificate and gift mailed to them.
