Youth Recognition Week

Youth Recognition Submissions

During the global pandemic, all live in person events are paused until further notice. Once we are safe to gather again, an awards gala and event will be planned. In the meantime, we are taking things a little different virtually this year.

June 21st begins summer solstice and National Indigenous Peoples Day. To celebrate, we will be honouring Indigenous Youth throughout the week on social media. Submissions will be accepted between April 1, 2021 and May 21, 2021 or until the maximum of 200 submissions have been received. The submissions will be accepted online only and must include the following:

Eligibility

  • Be of Indigenous ancestry of the Northwestern Ontario Region.*
  • Must be between the age of 12-30
  • Consent to the nomination. (Parent or Guardian consent required if under 16)

Indigenous Ancestry

The Canadian Constitution recognizes three groups of Indigenous people – Indians (Status and Non-Status), Métis people and Inuit.
